Registration is open for the 2021 season for the Riverlake youth program. The plan for the season is to run sessions on Wednesday nights from 5:30pm to 6:30pm starting the end of June and running until the end of August or beginning of September, depending on interest. As a club, if our registration numbers support it, we will be trying to organize age category games against other clubs for the youth players. As field times are confirmed more details on this will be made available. We are also trying to include youth games to our annual tournament held at the end of May as a kick off to the youth season that will start a few weeks after the tournament. Following Rugby Canada guidelines all players will need to be registered in order to attend, which is one reason for sending this out now.
We are working with the assumption that covid-19 restrictions in the summer in the province are going to be similar to the current restrictions which allows for 60 participants and coaches on the field at once with parents allowed to be spectators and following restrictions for gathering size, distancing, etc…. These restrictions will hopefully allow for more players to participate this season.
Rugby Nova Scotia has not confirmed any events for the summer due to not knowing what restrictions will be in place. One benefit for registering for a club early in the season is that players will be insured to participate in any Rugby Nova Scotia events that happen until the end of March 2022 without having to pay for additional insurance.
For this season the 2 categories youth players will register for are:
birth dates 2010 to 2019: 2021 Rugby Nova Scotia – Minor – Non-Contact (Touch/Flag) – $65
birth dates 2006 to 2009: 2021 Rugby Nova Scotia – Junior – Intro to Contact – $125
Our plan is to run the intro to contact category similar to 2 seasons ago if restrictions and registration numbers allow it to happen. There isn’t much of a cost difference between junior touch/flag and junior intro to contact so using this category allows us flexibility in programming.
The website to register is: https://rugbycanada.sportlomo.com/Select Nova Scotia as the province and Riverlake as the club.
If there are any parents interested in helping out this season please let us know.
The last thing to pass on is we are looking to create a new logo for Riverlake and want to extend the contest to the youth players as well. Information on the logo contest can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/riverlakerfc/photos/gm.1619689294894794/3398086950295651/
As always word of mouth is the best promotion for the club. If you know anyone interested in having their kids play this summer please pass on this information or have them contact the club at firstname.lastname@example.org .
